Southern Tour Highlights!!! LiveMusicDaily Article! Gypsy Sally’s Live Audio!

Hayley Jane & The Primates are back home after a great first trip below the Mason-Dixon line! We had a blast exploring NC, SC, GA, VA, and DC! We met a lot of new friends and can’t wait to come back South! We will definitely be back to Virginia July 26-30th for Floyd Fest with Thievery Corporation, Steel Pulse, Keller Williams, Turkuaz, and many more! Check out more info on Floyd Fest here, http://floydfest.com/

During this tour, Hayley Jane & The Primates set a band record for the most shows we have ever played in a row! 11 shows to be exact! Every show was incredibly special, but we’d like to share some highlights of the trip for us!

We had a great time joining McLovins for a few shows on the Southern run, but Atlanta was an especially good hang with the McLovins boys! Atticus joined us on keys for a lively version of Ramble on Rose by the Grateful Dead! Thanks to Bret Peretz of livemusicdaily.com for a great write-up about the night! Bret had this to say about the band, “Thursday night a storm came through Atlanta, not one of wind and rain but a force of nature much stronger. If you aren’t familiar with Hayley Jane and The Primates, stop what you are doing and get to know them immediately! Coming from Boston with Berklee roots (and chops), the band has been doing its thing for just under five years now and has clearly found their sound” check out the full article and a snippet of Ramble On Rose with Atticus of McLovins here!

We also had the pleasure of meeting Col. Bruce Hampton at the famed Charleston Pour House! Not only did the legendary venue far exceed our expectations, but Col. Bruce was the coolest and we had a great time getting to meet him! The Primate party at The Pour House in Raleigh was also a highlight! We love playing with the Primate Fiasco and had an great time playing with their accordion player Drake on our song “Madame Humphrey.” The Pour House Music Hall in Raleigh also has one of the coolest sound guys we have ever met! Thanks Jack!

There are so many things to say about the trip, but one thing is for sure! We will definitely be back down South soon and can’t to see all of our new friends! Here’s a link to audio from our show at Gypsy Sally’s in Washington DC! Hope to see you soon in your favorite local venue! https://soundcloud.com/will-urquhart/sets/hayley-jane-and-the-primates-at-gypsy-sallys-2242017

Cosmic Katrina Sneak Peek! Kickstarter Update!

Happy New Year! We couldn’t be more excited to usher in 2017 with a brand new album! We’re just a few steps away from being ready to press the record, but before we do, we’d like to update you on all the progress we’ve made! We completed basic tracking in August at More Sound Recording Studios in Syracuse, NY! Since then we have been hard at work adding the finishing touches to the tracks!

We have added horn parts, keyboards, synths, tons of vocal overdubs, and a bunch of cool percussion overdubs! We’ve been so lucky to work with all sorts of special guests such as horn players from West End Blend and Spiritual Rez, vocalist Shira Elias of Turkuaz, vocalist and guitarist Ryan Montbleau, percussionist Jake Huffman of The McLovins, and of course drummer Bill Carbone of Max Creek and Z3. Last weekend, our guitar players Juice and Smitty headed up to Vermont with our producer Craig Brodhead of Turkuaz where they finished up all the guitar overdubs at Madaila’s studio in Burlington.

We’ve been so fortunate to work with so many amazing people at the most wonderful places for this record! As we reflect on this amazing journey and think about mixing, mastering, and album art; we’d like to take this time to thank you once again for all the support! We can’t wait to show you what we’ve accomplished with your help!

Here’s a link to our Kickstarter update that includes a sneak peek of our song Comic Katrina! Cosmic Katrina Sneak Peek!

MSG Phish After-Party!!! B.B. King’s in Times Square! Hayley Jane And The Primates Do BOWIE!

Hayley Jane And The Primates are very excited to host a CEG Present’s Phish After Party at the legendary B.B. King’s Club! We will also be joined on a couple tunes by Shira Elias of Turkuaz and James Casey of Trey Anastasio Band! 2016 was such a sad year for the music world. We lost Prince, Sharon Jones, Leon Russel, Bernie Worrell, Phife Dog and Maurice White (among many others) in what can only be described as a tragic year. Perhaps the biggest loss of 2016 was David Bowie. The beloved rock ‘n’ roll icon spent years cultivating one of the best and most consistent catalogs in music, constantly delivering top-shelf material that continued to blow our minds with his final album, Blackstar, released just two days before his untimely death. On Wednesday, December 28th, Hayley Jane and The Primates will bring a raucous tribute to the “Thin White Duke” to the cozy confines of BB King’s Blues Club, giving fans one more opportunity to celebrate the life and music of the great David Bowie before bringing the awful year that was 2016 to a close on a high note.
